Tarik (11) helps his father Elias (35) to transport illegal immigrants into the Netherlands. When an accident occurs, Tarik gains the acknowledgment from his father he has yearned for, but at a high price - the loss of his own innocence.
Shady El-Hamus
Biography
Shady El-Hamus (1988) is an award-winning director and screenwriter. He graduated from the Dutch Film Academy in 2012 and was named one of the three directing talents of 2018 by Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant. He wrote Sam de Jong’s award-winning graduation film Magnesium and his own film Over Zonen, with Marwan Kenzari (Aladdin, Murder on the Orient Express) in the leading role. In 2012 Magnesium won the award for Best Student Film at the Dutch Film Festival and was selected for many international festivals, including Sundance. Shady received the Dioraphte Award for Most Outstanding Student. After his graduation Shady went on to study at the National Film and Television School in England. In 2015 he took his degree with the film Fairuz, which premiered as part of the main competition at the Dubai International Film Festival. Back in the Netherlands he made the short film Malik and Nachtschade, which was the Dutch entry for the 2018 Academy Awards.
